MY PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHING

MY PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHING

Mercy C.J.

Philosophy and life are intimately connected. It is the philosophy of people that decides the goal of their life. Again, individuals with similar philosophies have a tendency to spread their ideals. This process is called education. Thus education can be considered as the dynamic side of philosophy. Educational philosophy is philosophy applied to education. Since education and philosophy are the two sides of a coin, every teacher must have his own philosophy. Only then a teacher can attain his desired goal.

All great teachers were great philosophers. A teacher must be a friend, philosopher and a guide to his students. As a teacher I will be a friend to my students. I will try my best to know the problems of the students and will provide them with necessary helps as far as I am able to do it.

Even though the teacher has his own ideas and is not able to communicate his ideas effectively his ideas will be futile. So I will try myself to be a good communicator. I will take efforts to understand the learning disabilities of the student and will apply necessary steps to mend it. It will help in the development of the students. A teacher should be able to think from the level of the students. Only then he can teach effectively. I will be impartial to y students.

A teacher should be a seer and prophet. He should be able to visualize the future of his students. Only then he should be able to guide them in the right way. So I will try to visualize the future of my students based on their abilities and innate potentialities. I will motivate them to achieve their goals in life.

A teacher should be a role model to his students. All great teachers like Jesus Christ. And Buddha was role models. They taught us through their life. For example, Mahatma Gandhi taught us through his life-“my life is my message”. As such a teacher should teach through his life. I will try my best to be a role model to my students. Thus I believe that I can mould a better society.

PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHING

MY PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHING

Safeera P.T.

Education means the development of desirable habits, skills and attitudes which makes an individual a good citizen. In the words of Swami Vivekananda “education is not the amount of information that is put into brain and riot there, undigested all your life. We must have life-building, man making, character making, assimilation of ideas. If you have assimilated five ideas and made them your life and character, you have more education than any man who has got by heart a whole library”.

Teaching is a very respectful profession in the world. The character of a child is formed through education. Education also develops the personality of a child. When I was a very young girl, my teachers influenced my character. My teachers and parents motivated me to join the teaching field.

The growth of children in our society is very much important. As Tagore said “every child comes to the world with a message”. The students will become the teachers, parents, politician, ministers, MLAs, MPs etc. of tomorrow. So their education becomes very important and they must be developed in this sense. Hence a teacher should teach them in foreseeing these matters.

I want to teach my students more than the subject matter given in a text book. I will try to develop good character, personality, courage and confidence in my students. I will support them in constructing knowledge and motivate them to activate their prior knowledge.

I would like to become a guide, friend and philosopher of students. I feel that the students are constantly supporting their teachers. In the modern world parents do not care their children all time. So the teacher must act as mother, guardian etc. of students. Therefore the teacher should impart quality education to their students and bring them up morally rich and socially committed.

During my profession, I will provide special care for slow learners and establish friendly relation with them. I will try to create good atmosphere in the classroom and develop desirable interest in ideas and task related to commercial activities. As a commerce teacher I will teach the students of adolescence age. So it will really be a challenging job through out my life.
