Sujitha's Philosophy of Teaching

My Philosophy of Teaching

Sujitha P.S. (Mathematics)

Teaching ranks amongst the nation’s top five prestigious professions where one is involved in shaping the future of the country. Love for teaching evokes the passion and dedication. I firmly believe that the best way to learn is to teach and one continues to learn all through one’s life.
My personal experiences contribute to my philosophy today in that the most meaningful learning takes place when students are motivated and interested. Students should be given opportunities to relate their learning and critical thinking skills to social challenges and problems outside the classroom walls. Courses are supposed to be designed to accommodate the intellectual needs of the students. The teacher is there to facilitate this process.
The teacher needs to be very patient; to be tough at times; to present a diversity of materials, techniques, and input; and above all, to have a sense of humor. Boredom is the cruel enemy of learning. A boring teacher cannot awaken or motivate a class and bored students cannot interest or inspire.
My teaching philosophy is based on a fundamentally optimistic view; I believe that all the students, with the help of the right tools, will be able to overcome any difficulties in their learning process.
